Welcome to the SKArating for Offices Environmental assessment scheme.

The scheme was updated September 2025 and is the result of extensive research and engagement with numerous stakeholders. It represents a collective effort and understanding of good environmental practice in the current offices interior fit-out industry.

There are introductory briefing sessions on the scheme and details can be found below. During these briefings you will hear about the drivers behind the update, the thinking around the new criteria, and selections available to teams.

SCHEME OVERVIEW

The Offices Environmental 2.0 scheme has been streamlined; it now focuses on only environmental impacts of interior projects, and is a total of 83 measures across 9 impact categories. There has been a systematic effort to work earlier and later into project timelines to enable opportunities as early as possible and drive performance into occupancy in a more effective way.

  • The main objectives for this scheme have been to:

  • Align projects with Net Zero and harmonise efforts and limits with the UK Net Zero Building Standard.

  • Drive towards 100% Circularity and systemic change to enable the industry to better adopt relevant practices and systems.

  • Aligning all practices with current good practice levels and be a channel of sustainable knowledge to the front line of project design and delivery.

  • Removed the Wellbeing category in preparation for the development of the new Social & Wellbeing for Offices assessment scheme. Development commencing Q1 2027.
